Nice research but when the smokes get removed (pre 1916) all should factions shouldn't have than smoke grenades.

Well I only did this if the devs wanted to go full historical. there can be exceptions made for balance ofc.

there is also the question that the french use a british smoke grenade when we had our own (as demonstrated in this post)

  2. In-game there are a number of issues regarding the French loadouts, in this post I will be detailing what could be done to fix it in order to make it more accurate, using infantry combat manuals and officers manuals of the time.

Adjusted Loadouts for the infantry section:

    1914

    Officer:

1-  Modele 1892 Revolver,  the Grenade modele 1914, Epee modele 1882, Jumelles

    2- Modele 1873 Revolver, 2x Grenade modele 1914, Epee modele 1882, Jumelles

(Note: France did not have smoke grenades prior to 1916, that I can find at least)

    Assault:

    1- Epee baionnette modele 1886, 3x Grenade modele 1914,

    2- Modele 1873 Revolver, Epee baionnette modele 1886, 2x grenade modele 1914

    Machine Gunner:

(Note: In theory this class should not exist for France in 1914, but for Balance ill let the devs choose what they want to do with this class)

  3. Gourde modele 1877

In-game, currently, the "water bottle" of the french troops is a personalized item done by a tirailleur (as characterized by the crescent and star) when in reality, the majority of troops maintained the blue covering for their "gourde".

    in-game model:

    Proposed Fix:

Change the color of the current bottle to use blue instead of khaki, and remove the star and crescent on it

    Casque Adrian

Currently, in the game, there is a bizarre adrian helmet model for the assault, the medic, and the machine gunner. that has a cut off visor, I cannot find any historical reference detailing such a modification.

    In-Game:

There is the correct helmet in the game already, my proposed fix would be to simply give the model of the standard adrian to all members of the section.

However, for the artilleryman, there would be a need to add the artillery insignia on the adrian helmet:

If there is any need to clarify, or provide additional sources, I would be glad to provide them.

  4. The French (starting in 1915) should have access to the 1907/15 rifle, and from 1914 for the 1892 Carbine for artillerymen and Machine gunners. There is also the issue of mass issuing the semi-automatic RSC 1917 (of which 85,000 were built) as an infinite infantry weapon. It should only be 1 per section to reflect its scarcity.

Another sidearm that could be added to France is the 1911, as stated in the French officer's manual of January 1918, officers could either be equipped with the revolver, the ruby or the "Colt automatic 11mm 25" (French designation of it during WW1). The French Assault should have access to the Berthier 1892 Carbine and the Ruby or the revolver mle 1892.

There is also the question of very questionable uniform choices for the Early War French, the tunics were mainly issued to artillerymen, and machine gunners. otherwise they would have the long coats just like the officer does. They would also have a blue Kepi Cover.

Also why does every French unit have a German bayonet ? cant they just give them the 1916 Knife? (for maps in 1916 and later) and give them the Coutrot trench dagger for maps in 1915.

If there is a need to provide any more sufficient proof or examples of what I am talking about here, don't hesitate to let me know
